Train Spotting

After we dropped Isabelle off with her friend Ruby this morning we went to the train station for a coffee.

This afternoon Jessica went to a scarecrow contest in a village called Heather – and saw a lot of scarecrows!

Woolacombe – Day 4

Well sadly we’ve finished our holiday now and need to head home. We packed up the flat, made a picnic and headed to the beach – what a great way to finish the holiday! You were able to head down and use your new bodyboard.

Traffic was a nightmare on the way home, but we stopped for dinner en-route and got home around 7

Woolacombe – Day 3

Well Isabelle – I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from today! We went to the Wildlife and Dinosaur park in Combe Martin. We were there a little early so headed to the beach first.

The park was great, we saw loads of animals, had a train ride and saw an amazing sea lion show (as you’ll see the park had some super steep hills!!)

When we’d finished at the park we went back to the flat and headed to the beach where you continued to perfect your body boarding technique, then went and got a pizza for dinner which we enjoyed on the beach – what a perfect end to the day (there was rather a lot of sand in the bath…)!

Woolacombe – Day 2

The weather wasn’t quite as I’d wanted today – rather than clear blue sky’s it was grey, miserable and a bit drizzly! We didn’t let that stop us though; the first port of call was Lynton & Lynmouth to go on the funicular railway, on the way back up, you stood on the footplate with the driver

After moving on from here (in part due to the weather(!)) we headed to the Barnstaple to Lynton railway which we’d passed on the way, you both really enjoyed it and the views were spectacular.

When we got back it was the beach all the way until bedtime – you had your first try on a body board, I think you’re hooked!

Woolacombe – Day 1

We got a fairly early start in today and managed to get on the road before half 7. As it was going to be a 4 hour trip we stopped halfway down for breakfast at Gloucester services which you both enjoyed!

Once we arrived we headed into Ilfracombe to have a look around before we could get into our flat. After having a look around we went to the beach, followed by the aquarium and then got an ice cream which you both wolfed down…

When we got into the flat is was then a quick change and down to the beach for a paddle in the sea followed by dinner – here’s looking forward to an equally action packed day two(!).

There’s a willow maze at Calke Abbey at the moment so we went to give it a go today!

Good bye Odney-hello Cliveden!

This morning we had our last breakfast.

We made sure the ducks were fed again and Isabelle found a new use for the putting green (a scooter track!)

Next we had a walk through Cookham Village and along the Thames to look at the big houses!

Then we went up the road to a National Trust House and beautiful water gardens. They had a big maze and a story book play area, so had a walk and a play before getting in the car to come home!

A day poolside

Today we had a lovely day splashing around by the pool at Odney!

The day started when we gave the ducks their breakfast!

We finished our night off with a lovely meal at Odney, Isabelle made her Lego castle that she bought at Lego land yesterday while Jessica ran around on the lawn at the front!

Jessica has been asking to play golf on the putting green at the front of the house we’ve been staying in or on the ‘golf grass’ as she’s called it! You both quickly lost inter test and just chased each other around with the golf clubs instead!

Despite Mummy slathering you in suncream all day you’re both incredibly tanned-look at this picture of Isabelle, it’s as if she’s still wearing her swimming costume!

Legoland

We have a brilliant day at Legoland today. We got there as the gates were opening and didn’t come away until they were closing!

The first ride of the day was the Lego cars where you gained your Lego driving licences!

Isabelle let you have her turn first, and we had a good giggle as you crashed her away around the track to earn your licence!

We went on a duplo train, helicopter, a Lego submarine, zapped Lego characters on a laser ride, went on a storybook ride to name just a few!

At the end of the day Isabelle made three Lego characters to bring home – one that looks just like her, one that’s a dr character (Isabelle says that’s her in 20years time) and one that’s a queen.

Isabelle also got a Lego keyring with her name engraved on to it and we got you a Lego brick style box and had your name engraved on that!

Beale Park

Today we had a big breakfast to set us up for the day (Isabelle only had a small breakfas: a cooked breakfast of sausage and scrambled eggs, a bowl of cereals plus three slices of toast and Nutella!).

Then we got our sun cream on ready for the day and head out to Beale Park.

First we went on a train ride, then we saw some animals, had a paddle in the pool and played in the play area!

You had been asking all day to go on a boat so when we got back to Odney we hired a rowing boat and rowed down the river!
